Our Curriculum

At KBNS, we pride ourselves on our carefully designed and unique curriculum and programmes. As an independent nursery school recognised by the Western Cape Education Department, we offer a rich educational experience for children from 4 months up to Grade R.

Our Grade R and Pre-Grade R learners follow the CAPS curriculum, incorporating the Wordworks Stella Literacy Programme and R-Maths Programme, while our younger learners follow the South African Curriculum Framework (NCF) for children from birth to four years.

Where we truly set ourselves apart is in the creative and independent programmes our teachers integrate into these curriculums. These programmes not only provide multiple opportunities for learning and stimulation but also prepare children for the school years ahead.

Our programmes emphasise originality, creativity, and the holistic development of each child. At KBNS, we offer seven specialised programmes:

  • Music
  • Dance
  • Specialized Art
  • Library and Drama
  • Science
  • Robotics
  • Understanding Myself and Others
  • Physical Education (Phys Ed)

The children’s education is further enriched by exciting activities such as dress-up days and Book Week celebrations. Visits from local drama groups, storytellers, the “snake man” and “bird man,” traffic officers, doctors, and occasional outings to the theatre or fire department all add depth and excitement to their daily learning experiences.

We also have a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist on-site. These highly trained professionals support children with everyday developmental needs during school hours, helping address challenges early and ensuring a smooth transition to primary school.
